Welcome to City of Cambridge Bowls Club
We are a friendly and welcoming outdoor lawn bowls club in Cambridge, playing on the beautiful and historic green at Christ’s Pieces in the heart of Cambridge, Cambridgeshire.
Our outdoor season begins in April and runs through to mid-September. We compete in both the Cambridge & District League and the Meldreth & District League.
New bowlers are always welcome. Whether you are completely new to the sport or an experienced player, we offer a supportive environment with a strong social spirit, regular fixtures, and a relaxed club atmosphere.
City Bowls is more than just a sports club — it is a community. Alongside competitive bowling, we enjoy a lively social calendar and an inclusive environment where new members quickly feel at home.

Season opener at Barrington
Pre-Season Friendly – Sunshine, Smiles & a Strong Start
City of Cambridge Bowls Club opened the season in the best possible fashion with a convincing 6½–½ win away at Barrington — helped along nicely by a rare appearance from that bright yellow thing in the sky!
On a lovely sunny evening, Barrington Bowls Club were excellent hosts, setting the tone for what was a thoroughly enjoyable and good-spirited match.
A big thank you to Barrington for their warm welcome and hospitality.
Second friendly continues preparations
Our second pre-season friendly takes place away to Barton and provides another useful run-out before the competitive fixtures begin.

Membership
At the City of Cambridge Bowls Club, you’ll find more than just great bowling — you’ll find a friendly community. We welcome players of all ages and abilities, from complete beginners to seasoned bowlers.
Annual membership fee: £15.00 per season
Match fees: £3.00 per player per match
New bowlers are especially welcome. Coaching and guidance are available, and all equipment can be provided initially — just bring flat-soled shoes.
New to bowls? You’re very welcome
No experience needed — we’ll show you the basics and lend you the equipment.

- Equipment: bowls and coaching provided for beginners.

City of Cambridge Bowls Club is located on Christ’s Pieces in central Cambridge, a short walk from the city centre and Cambridge Parkside car park.
Parking: Free on-street parking is available after 5:00pm on Victoria Street and Earl Street, both just a short walk from the club.

Indoor Bowls Season
Our indoor bowls season runs from late September to mid-April. During the winter months our members play indoors at the internationally recognised Chesterton Indoor Bowls Club.
We’re pleased to confirm that City of Cambridge Bowls Club has successfully retained its Division One status following our first season competing at this level in the indoor–outdoor league.
