League One Status Secured in Strong First Season
We’re pleased to confirm that City of Cambridge Bowls Club has successfully retained its Division One status following our first season competing at this level in the indoor–outdoor league.
Stepping up into Division One always promised to be a challenge, with a consistently high standard of opposition. The team has risen to that challenge superbly, delivering a series of strong and competitive performances across the season and proving we belong at this level.
To retain our status in such a competitive division is a fantastic achievement and a real credit to everyone involved.
As we now look ahead to the outdoor season, we can take great confidence from the indoor campaign. The experience gained, combined with the strength and spirit within the club, puts us in a strong position to continue building and pushing forward.
A big thank you to all players for their contribution throughout the winter indoor season, and to everyone who has supported the club along the way.

The Health Benefits of Bowls for All Ages
Bowls is a welcoming, low-impact sport that brings people together while supporting physical,
mental, and social wellbeing.
It gently improves balance, coordination, flexibility, and mobility, making it enjoyable and accessible
for players of all ages and abilities.
Because bowls is played at a comfortable pace, it is ideal for maintaining activity levels without
placing excessive strain on joints. The controlled movement involved helps improve posture, stability,
and overall physical confidence.

Offers regular social events alongside the sport
One of the greatest strengths of bowls is its accessibility. Whether you are looking to stay active,
meet new people, or simply enjoy time outdoors, bowls provides a relaxed and inclusive way to do so.
At City of Cambridge Bowls Club, we pride ourselves on creating an environment where everyone can enjoy
the game at their own pace — whether competitively or socially.
Social Life at City Bowls Club
Bowling is only part of what we do. City of Cambridge Bowls Club has a friendly and welcoming social scene
that brings members together both on and off the green. Whether you’ve just joined or you’ve been playing
for years, our social events are a great way to meet people, relax after a match, and feel part of the club.
We keep things informal, inclusive, and good fun — from a quick drink after a home fixture to larger get-togethers
throughout the season. Many members say the social side of the club is one of the best parts of being at City Bowls.

Details will be announced shortly. Members and guests are always welcome.
We’ll post details here as soon as the next event is confirmed.

Regular Social Events
Alongside league fixtures and friendlies, we run a selection of regular social events throughout the year.
These vary depending on the season and member availability, but typically include:
Post-home match drinks: The Elm Tree, Orchard Street, Cambridge (a short walk from the green). Guests are very welcome to join us after the match.
Summer barbecue: a relaxed club get-together during the outdoor season
Bowls summer tour fixture: an annual highlight with bowls and a good social evening
Christmas festive dinner: a chance to catch up with everyone during the winter season
Winter socials: informal meetups and get-togethers while we’re playing indoors
New members are always encouraged to come along — you don’t need to know everyone to enjoy yourself.
If you’d like to suggest a social idea or help organise an event, just speak to one of the committee.
Indoor Bowls Season
