Welcome to City of Cambridge Bowls Club

We are a friendly and welcoming Bowls Club located in the heart of Cambridge, playing on the iconic Christ’s Pieces.

Our outdoor season runs from late April to mid-September, and we compete in the Meldreth & District League and the Cambs & District Leagues.

New bowlers are always welcome! Whether you’re a seasoned player or completely new to the game, we’d love for you to join us.

City Bowls is more than just a club; it’s a community. Alongside great bowling, we offer a fantastic social scene, with events and gatherings that go beyond match days.

Interested? Drop us an email – we’d love to hear from you!

The Health Benefits of Bowls for All Ages

Bowls is an excellent sport for people of all ages, offering a wide range of physical, mental, and social benefits. As a low-impact activity, it helps improve balance, coordination, and flexibility, supporting overall mobility. Its gentle nature makes it accessible to individuals of varying fitness levels, providing an enjoyable way to stay active without placing undue strain on the body. In addition to its physical advantages, bowls also supports mental well-being. The game requires concentration, strategic thinking, and problem-solving, helping to keep the mind sharp and engaged. It also encourages social interaction, fostering friendships and reducing feelings of loneliness and isolation. The strong sense of community within bowls clubs creates a welcoming and inclusive environment where participants, particularly older adults, can remain socially connected and active. Overall, bowls promotes a healthy and fulfilling lifestyle by encouraging physical activity, cognitive stimulation, and meaningful social connections, enhancing quality of life at any age.
